If you are like me, you may have several email addresses that you wish to send from. It is possible to send as these alternate email addresses from within a single Google Gmail account.

The script:

If you are like me, you may have several email addresses that you wish to send from. It is possible to send as these alternate email addresses from within a single Google Gmail account.

First you must have a Gmail account. Once you have a Gmail account and have logged in, you should see a page similar to this.

Locate the “Settings” link in the upper right hand corner of the page. Click on this link.

In a moment you will be brought to the General Settings page for your Google Gmail account. Locate the link or tab called “Accounts and Import”. Click on this link. The “Accounts and Import” settings page will be displayed.

Look for the section called “Send mail as:” In this section you should see a button called “Send mail from another address”. Click on this button. The “Add another email address you own” dialog will be brought up.

If you will be sending as a different name you can set that here as well. I will leave the name as “Phillip Rhoades”

In the email address field you should type your alternate email address. In my case it is iamsemjaza@yahoo.com

After you have typed in a name and your alternate email address locate the “Next Step” button and click on it. You will be taken to the next step. You should choose to send through Gmail as that is the easiest method. Click on “Next Step”

You will then be brought to the final page of setup. Gmail will send a verification code to your alternate email address (in this case iamsemjaza@yahoo.com) to make sure that you do in fact own the email address that you are trying to use. Click the “Send Verification” button. A window asking for the verification code will be brought up. You may close this window as we will be using a verification link.

Next go to the inbox of your alternate email address. I will go to my yahoo inbox. Open the message with a subject line that begins with “Gmail Confirmation – Send Mail as”. In this email you will find your verification code and a verification link. Click on the verification link. Your alternate email address is now confirmed.

Return to your gmail inbox. Locate the “Compose Mail” button on the left. Click on this button. You should now see a “From” drop down list on your email composition page. If you do not see this drop down list press ctrl and F5 at the same time to force a cacheless page refresh. After that you will definitely see the drop down list. You may use this list to select an address to send from.
