It’s the intern!

Greetings, Digital PR and Social Media Marketing world! I am the new Abraham Harrison  intern.  Actually, I’m the first Abraham Harrison intern–and let’s hope not the last.

My name is Liza Peiffer, and I’m a little over a month away from beginning my junior year at University of Maryland in College Park.  Go Terps! I am a Communications Major with a focus in Public Relations, and I’m working on a minor in Rhetoric. I actually enjoy the extra classes (dork).

Since I’ve been in college, I’ve come home for the summer usually to resume some variation of an ice-cream/cold-treat-scooping job.  However, working with Abraham Harrison has opened me up to the wonderful world of Social Media.  I have been using Facebook, AIM, MySpace and Twitter for a long time, but I am just realizing the enormous role that Social Media plays in modern business marketing.  Bottom line: I can work, explore, learn and network with coworkers and clients globally while spending the summer in my small South Jersey town. It is a beautiful thing.

That small town is Stratford, a.k.a. “about 10 minutes from Cherry Hill,”  and my city is Philly all the way.  It took me a bit to adjust to the D.C. scene while at school, but I’m learning to love it more every time I visit. I recently tried Zengo in Chinatown, which I enjoyed very much.  The food was so different  from anything I have ever tried. They describe it as Latin-Asian.  I’m no food critic, but I’m always looking for new restaurants to try in D.C.  If you know any, I’ll be thankful for the tip!

Because UMD is so close to D.C., I’m sure come graduation it will be easiest to find work around the area. However, I would love to travel–NYC, West Coast, abroad–almost anywhere that will give me room to expand in PR or marketing.  I’m always looking for new things to learn and experience, and I try my best to constantly grow professionally as well as personally.

I am psyched for this opportunity to work with Abraham Harrison, and I can tell I’ll do more than the typical intern getting the coffee (if there was a digital way to serve coffee, that is).   Watch out for me!

Welcome to the team, Liza!

“I have been using Facebook, AIM, MySpace and Twitter for a long time, but I am just realizing the enormous role that Social Media plays in modern business marketing.”

I feel the same way. I’ve been learning so much while working here…I will definitely put these practices into work when I start my own business.
