Agree with Jonathan on this one...can't BEGIN to tell you how many freebies, samples, gifts, and lures I turn down on Shapiing Youth to 'cover' a story...Won't do it.

Guess that's part of the charm (and the poverty, eh?!) Seriously though, I DO believe in brand equity, and as Jonathan and I have discussed before, much of the 'meaning' in marcom conversations is about integrity, chemistry, trust, authenticity, and ability to know the difference between the sharks and reef dwellers that mean no harm. ;-)

btw, Jonathan, great to see you're one of the fellow co-authors in the next edition of AOC for Variety, the Children's Charity. Anxious to read your chapter.

Great post, Chris. Thanks. --Amy

Yeah, but Pay Per Post is transparent. That's very important. You know what's up. And you've got non-professional people doing it, often out of their own passion. They're also not required to write a positive review.

What gets me is knowing that magazine I subscribe to just included a feature article on a drug someone takes because a pharmaceutical company paid for it, or it could be a clothing line or a car company or a resort or something for kids.

I'd rather have something scream out advertorial than lie to me.

Have to agree, it's so true and it is prevalent. I have seen other sites that will pay you to post-- payperpost is one but they make someone practically scream it from the rooftops when it's a simple one line at the beginning and end called ADVERTORIAL or -- dedicated post. That's it. People aren't stupid.
