Alexa: Facebook overtakes MySpace

by Jonathan Trenn on November 26, 2007 · 11 comments

This happened earlier than I expected, but in the end it’s no surprise. Facebook is getting more page views and reach than MySpace. While MySpace still has many more registrants, Facebook is obviously more valued by its users. That’s what happens when you get a ton of ads for ring tones and porn friend requests. Here’s the data:

Chris,

I find Facebook much more user-friendly and interesting than MySpace. For me, it has to do with the make-up of those I connect with. Facebook regulars seem more mature, more informed and more actively involved with others (i.e., less self-absorbed).

Lewis

Actually, I wrote the post. : ) But I agree wholeheartedly. Sort of outgrew it.

Sorry Alexa,

I am old-school and expect the byline to come after the headline.

Lewis, Jonathan Trenn wrote it — and I put his byline right at the top now…. thanks!

Actually, my name now is Alexa!!

This is so funny! All of this!

Uh, you may want to reconsider this post based on real information about Alexa:

Alexa has it’s place but not in actual site growth nor in one site “taking over” another site.

Peace.

Well, at least we created lots of comments. So let me see: I thought Chris wrote this because I followed his link from Twitter, but then I learned Alexa wrote it, except Jonathan actually wrote the post and his name now is Alexa.

Do I have this right now?

That’s right. We need these comments to be successful. After all, you can’t have a Marketing Conversation without a conversation.

Well, Lewis, if you’ll see I changed the template of the site to give Jonathan a more complete byline! It all turned out well!

Chris,

And rightfully so… Jonathan (aka Alexa) deserves a huge byline.
