In a side bar to the article I mentioned in the previous post there was the following mentioned “70 amateur filmakers who were chosen by YouTube…will share the advertising revenue”.

So it is now official, Youtube has ads on their user submitted content . I read about it in todays San Francisco Chronicle Business Section. Here is the link to the article and comments. Reading the comments! Most people seem not to be very impressed. I am not sure how many explored it but when I viewed a video (and at the moment it is mostly on videos supplied by Youtubes professional partners) it wasn’t as bad as watching something on CNN.com, where you have to watch the whole commercial before you get to the content. The approach being used on Youtube is far less intrusive - but it is still an ad, which many Youtube users will be pissed off about.

Excellent advice on how to write white hat SEO titles that will make Google your new best boyfriend. By Heather Lloyd-Martin via Top Rank Blog:
- There should be unique titles for every page on your site. Yes, every page.
- Titles should read like a headline with keyword phrases in them to draw readers in. The search engines like the keyword phrases and human visitors are compelled to click on the search results when there is a compelling title.
- Make sure the title is no more than 75 characters long, because both search engines and human readers will stop reading after a while.

I met the guy who put together the first Wiki for the Intelligence community so I guess the logical next step would of course be a social network for spies, operators, and analysts: “A-Space will initially be voluntary to assuage worries of spies concerned about blowing their cover.” Via Techmeme & the FT
“Spies and teenagers normally have little in common but that is about to change as America’s intelligence agencies prepare to launch “A-Space”, an internal communications tool modelled on the popular social networking sites, Facebook and MySpace.
The Director of National Intelligence will open the site to the entire intelligence community in December. The move is the latest part of an ongoing effort to transform the analytical business following the failure to detect the 9/11 terrorist attacks or find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
Thomas Fingar, the deputy director of national intelligence for analysis, believes the common workspace – a kind of “MySpace for analysts” – will generate better analysis by breaking down firewalls across the traditionally stove-piped intelligence community. He says the technology can also help process increasing amounts of information where the number of analysts is limited.” Via Techmeme & the FT
