False Flag Marketing

I have been listening to a lot of Coast to Coast AMfascinating stuff – and they talk about conspiracies constantly – fascinating – and a lot of what they talk about are false flag operations. I would like to coin a term, false flag marketing. Many of the sites and blogs we currently refer to as flogs, splogs, shill sites, or astroturf sites could be redefined as false flag sites.

False flag marketing is a covert operation conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, designed to appear as if they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one’s own.

Okay, okay, here is the original concept, false flag operations, via Wikipedia:

False flag operations are covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to appear as if they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one’s own.

For example, Working Families for Wal-Mart?, www.workingfamiliesforwalmart.com is a false flag blog by Wal-Mart Watch that flies a false flag by pretending to be the flog site, Working Families for Wal-Mart, www.forwalmart.com.

Hey, remember me! I coined it!
