I know from my experience of watching people navigate, search, and explore online, that people exhibit almost no discernment when it comes to what they trust and consume online. I agree very much with what JupiterResearch reports below. Do you agree?

“JupiterResearch, a leading authority on the impact of the Internet and emerging consumer technologies on business, has found that in researching health-related issues online, consumers are more likely to choose information based on relevance rather than the trustworthiness of the source.” Via Forbes

One Response to “We Use Info Based on Relevance and Not Trust”

  1. I guess I’d agree. And I think it sort of sucks. Because it shows that getting accurate information is always going to be a difficult task.

We find that, at times, pharamceutical companies, or government agencies make faulty judgements. We’ve got some doctors saying this others saying that.

So I guess with online, like offline, relevance = trustworthyness.
