The Web is Doomed

Smart Mobs, as written by Howard Rheingold, states that in most of the world the Web has never been adopted. This surprises Matt McAlister. Not me.

Folks have always accessed the Internet via their handhelds. Texting (SMS) at the low and and WAP at the hight, neither of which are the web, proper.

This is nothing new. And as a web content provider, providing mobile, AvantGo, light, and text-only feeds — and now RSS Newsfeeds — should have been something you have already been doing.

I know, you haven’t.

Well, it is time not to make that transition.

Don’t believe me? Well believe Matt McAlister from Infoworld and Steve Rubel from Micro Persuasion.

And buy a copy of Smart Mobs while you’re at it — Howard is indeed a futurist of the finest cloth — and at the very least, keeo your eye on the Smart Mobs blog.
